Apart from educational & employment support, Choices has direct access to a number of support/interest groups within the Community.

Choices also offers printing & other services including Web site design and various desktop publishing projects.

In the early 1990's, Choices emerged from a self-help support group which had been set up to address the needs of a group of unemployed people in the Shankill area of South County Dublin. This group, led by co-founder, Jenny Storey, offered support to people who needed help with upgrading skills and in obtaining employment.

The success of this initiative led to an approach being made by FAS South County Dublin Region for the Social Employment Scheme (now Community Employment) to be set up-providing a service to the community and providing part-time work for the long termed unemployed in the Shankill area. Support was given and the project was set-up under the name
Southside Unemployment Action Group.
This was later changed to Choices by a consensus of staff working there at the time.
